What started out as friends playing cards and hanging out at the Stritz's house, turned into something only God knew was 'in the cards'. Since February 25, 2024, all the laughs, all the adventures, and fun, here we are over 2 years later about to become 'The Skogs.'

Tale 1: The Beginning

I first ran into Kyle at The Stritz's anniversary party in November of 2023. I first HEARD his laugh from across the room. It was infectious. I remember looking across the room and seeing him and was like woah, he's so handsome! Then saying, no Kaitlin, no. haha. (I was so scared to date again!) Then come New Year's Eve, and he showed up at the Stritz house. I was like, what!?! There he is again!! A week or so later, Katie says, Kyle is interested in me, what do I think?!? I was so nervous, I said no.

So I spend some time hanging out with Katie and playing cards and low and behold who is there too?!? Kyle.

We became friends and I could not get over how kind, sincere, and just how genuine he was. And did I mention we just laughed together!?!

Simply put, he was the nicest guy I had ever met.

Tale 2: Our 1st Date

So one day, I told Katie if Kyle asked me to go on a date, I would say yes. Well, he didn't ask, (probably because I had turned him down) so I decided to message Kyle first. February 25, 2024 was the date of our the first real 'hello' conversation and it lasted a very long time. We laughed and laughed...through a text. A few days later after he returned home from his NASCAR trip in Daytona, he asked me out on a date...Kyle CALLED me on the phone. What a gentleman! For our first date, he took me to Luna's Italian restaurant on the island in Venice. While we were waiting for our food, the owner of the restaurant came up to him to say hello. Kyle introduces me and the owner looks at me and says, 'This is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. I've known him since he was this little. I was like, oh really!? Well, after he opens the door for me to get into his truck when we leave, I remember him starting to drive, and as we pulled out of the parking lot, he lays his hand on the console with his hands open wide. I had NO earthly idea what he was doing. Come to find out he was trying to hold my hand. I was like oh! When I held his hand, it was like magic. I remember saying he's got calluses like my dad does on his hands. He's a hard worker and he reminded me of my dad. For me there is no better comparison. It was the best first date!

Tale 3: Meeting His Parents

Fast forward a bit and one day, I remember him asking me one day if I'd like to have dinner with him and meet his parents. I said of course! Welllll, come to find out it was dinner for Carol's birthday...he was having me meet his parents for the FIRST time on his mother's birthday!! It went super well and we all had the best time. I remember telling my mom...soooo, I think he likes me!! haha. You just don't go and meet the mother and let alone on her birthday!!

Tale 4: Talk of the Town

Then one day, I was getting my hair done by Chelsea Wickwire and she starts chatting and asks if I am dating anyone. I say Kyle Skog. I remember her spinning me around in my chair and she goes what!?! He was in my husband's wedding party. And then proceeds to say, 'He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet.' At this point I was like oh Kyle is telling these people around town to say this...I mean who says this exact statement every time. Well, come to find out, he sure is the nicest guy I've ever met.

Tale 5: Making it Official

I remember coming home from our family trip to Aruba in June and asking Kyle very casually (haha) soooo, do you think we could make things official and be couple? And he goes, I've been doing that since the first time I talked to you. I was like OH my goodness, this guy!!

Tale 6: The Rest is History

You ever just meet your person? Your best friend?

Through the highs, the lows and the in-betweens, he is my absolute rock and the biggest blessing God could ever give me. We treasure every single day together...the best is yet to come!

One thing I know for sure is this kind of love comes only once in a lifetime. Neither one of us were looking and never in a million years expected it. And yet here we are about to make it official. We are both beyond happy to have you all here to celebrate our love story with us.
